The Shaw Group Teams Up with The GL Company

The Shaw Group has recently signed a
platinum agreement to purchase all of
The GL Company’s Really Real Time®
modules to run over its Oracle JD
Edwards World software.
Patrick Thompson Jr, Sr. VP CIO of
The Shaw Group remarks, “After a
successful global implementation of the
Really Real Time® General Ledger and Job
Cost modules, we decided to buy Accounts
Payable, Account Receivable, Fixed
Assets, Tax and Executive Console.
The GL Company is unique in that it
has been able to build a business
application based on the concepts of
On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP)
technology which links directly into our
JD Edwards relational database real time
without the need to move/stage the data
to another database. What’s most
impressive though, is the speed within
which inquiries come back. Paper
reports, which were taking hours to run,
can now be online inquires that run in
seconds.
With the Executive Console module we
can now publish key management
information out to the enterprise in an
easy to use, intuitive way so that
department managers and project managers
can see their department‘s profit & loss
in real time, on-demand and have the
ability to drill down on costs, budgets
and variances.
This decision has extended the life
of our JD Edwards World software. We
always knew that our database had all
the elements which we require, but now
we actually have a quick and easy way of
getting at it.
The Really Real Time® Inquiry Suite
allows end users to build, publish and
inquire on all our critical information.
Also, with a concept called linked
reporting we can drill from a formatted
balance sheet to the profit & loss and
then right down to a journal entry, all
in a few mouse clicks.”
